A Seamless Transition to School

A Seamless Transition to School

Our strong partnership with McAuley Community School (MCS) provides children with access to high-quality resources and facilities, enhancing their learning journey. Through daily incursions into MCS, your child will

  • engage in investigative play with Reception students and teachers
  • become familiar with a school environment
  • join assemblies and liturgies
  • participate in learning projects with older neighbourhoods
  • explore school spaces.

These experiences help build confidence and strong relationships that support a smooth transition to primary education—whether at MCS or another local school.

Flexible and Comprehensive Learning

Flexible and Comprehensive Learning

  • 15 hours per week of Kindergarten learning, aligned with government programs, for 40 weeks per year.

  • The flexibility to extend attendance beyond the government-funded 15 hours, with the option to participate in our Kindergarten program up to 5 days per week.

  • Extended care hours before and after Kindergarten to support busy families.

  • A curriculum influenced by Reggio Emilia, and other progressive pedagogies valuing each child’s individuality, agency, and capability.

  • A focus on social-emotional development, fostering resilience, independence, and strong decision-making skills.

A Holistic and Engaging Curriculum

A Holistic and Engaging Curriculum

Our inquiry-based learning approach fosters both independent and collaborative learning, nurturing children’s natural curiosity and critical thinking skills. Through engaging excursions to places like the beach or community centre, children develop a deeper connection to their surroundings. We welcome parent volunteers to join these experiences, further strengthening our learning community.

Each child has an individual learning plan, developed in partnership with families, outlining their goals and strengths. To track progress, individual learning stories are shared twice per term, providing insights into your child’s development and next steps toward achieving their goals.

Room learning updates are shared weekly via Storypark, offering families a glimpse into their child’s learning journey and opportunities to extend learning at home. Parents are encouraged to contribute by sharing knowledge about their child's interests and engaging with their child’s learning stories.

Building a Culture of Kindness, Safety, and Respect

At Alive, we actively cultivate a culture where children feel safe, valued, and respected. We work closely with children to help them develop essential social-emotional skills, including evaluating risks, making safe choices, and understanding the impact of their actions on others. Through guided discussions, role-playing, and collaborative activities, children learn to navigate social situations with confidence and empathy. We empower them to become responsible decision-makers who contribute positively to their learning environment and the wider community.
